What’s changed
Previously, creating a product meant filling out a long form from scratch — one item at a time, with no guided search or duplicate detection. Here’s how the experience compares:
| Before | Now |
Interface | Side drawer with one long form | Guided step-by-step modal |
Entry method | Everything typed manually | Product library search first; manual entry as fallback |
Pack sizes | One at a time, per submission | Select multiple at once |
Store pricing | Primary store only | Per-store configuration for multi-location accounts |
Duplicate detection | None | Alerts you and offers to add a new size instead |
Adding products to your catalog
A guided product wizard now walks you through creating new items step by step — searching the product library, selecting pack sizes, and setting prices — all in one flow.
How it works
Click + New item while on the Product List or when adding or matching an item during ordering and receiving. It guides you through four steps:
Step 1: Choose a department and search
Select Beer, Wine, Spirits, or another department, then scan a UPC barcode or type a product name to search the product library.
Step 2: Review search results
Based on what we find, you'll see one of four outcomes:
Exact match found — product details are pre-filled. Choose which pack sizes to add (single, 6-pack, 12-pack, etc.) all at once.
Similar products found — browse a list of candidates grouped by what's already in your catalog and what's available from the library.
Product already in your catalog — the wizard lets you add a new size to your existing product family instead of creating a duplicate.
No match found — enter the product manually. Smart name parsing automatically extracts the size, container type, and pack size from what you type.
Step 3: Set prices and costs
Configure case cost, unit cost, and retail price. If you have multiple locations, you can set pricing for each store individually. Optionally assign a distributor.
Step 4: Create
Save the product. You'll see a confirmation, and the new item opens in the product detail drawer.
