How Bundle Discounts Work
Access requirements. You'll need edit access to the "Promotions" permission, same as any other discount.
Bundle sets one price for a set quantity of matching items, not per-item pricing. You define which products qualify (the same way you would for any other discount's conditions), plus how many of them need to be in the cart together and what the combined price should be for that whole group.
There's no separate "Effects" section like other discount types. Bundle's price and quantity live together under "Bundle configuration" instead.
"Stacks with sales" isn't available on Bundle. Unlike Item, Case, Mix-and-match, Cart size, and BOGO discounts, there's no "combines with items already on sale" option here.
"Check item eligibility" can only confirm an item qualifies as one of the bundle's products — not whether a cart has enough of them. The quantity and pricing match happens at checkout, not in this preview tool.
The Explanation summary doesn't say whether a bundle applies automatically. Unlike every other discount type's plain-language summary, Bundle's never mentions whether a cashier needs to apply it — check the "Apply automatically" switch itself rather than relying on the summary text.
Nothing stops you from pricing a bundle below cost. There's no margin check built in — double-check the math yourself before saving.
Building a Bundle Discount
Step 1
Click on "Products" in the left-menu bar, then click on "Discounts," then click "New discount."
Step 2
Switch the discount type to "Bundle — Fixed price for exact quantities of specified items."
Step 3
Under "General info," enter a "Discount name" and "Customer-facing name," and an optional description. On multi-location accounts, choose which "Stores" it applies to, and optionally limit it to specific customer groups.
Step 4
Under "Bundle products," choose whether an item has to match all your conditions or any one of them, then add condition rows for the products that count toward this bundle.
Step 5
Under "Bundle configuration," set "Exact quantity required" — how many qualifying items need to be bought together — and "Total amount," the combined price for that whole group. Turn on "Apply automatically when conditions are met" if you want it to apply without a cashier's help.
Step 6
Under "Configuration," turn on a start date, end date, or "Shelf label viewable" as needed.
Step 7
If your account has active time slots, add a schedule to restrict this to specific days or times.
Step 8
Save.
Troubleshooting
You're looking for "Stacks with sales" on a Bundle discount: it's not available for this discount type — that option only exists on Item, Case, Mix-and-match, Cart size, and BOGO discounts.
