Setting Up a Custom Tender
How the Custom Tender Works
A custom tender is a payment type you name yourself — one extra option alongside the built-in tenders, for taking payment in a way none of them covers. The name you choose is what cashiers see at the register, and what shows on receipts and reports.
Access requirements. Renaming your custom tender needs the same "Settings" edit permission that gates the rest of Devices settings. The name is shared by every store, so the Edit name button only appears when the store selector at the top of the tab is set to "Default settings (all stores)." Changing that selector reloads the page and discards any tender changes you haven't saved, so save first.
It's one slot, not an open-ended list. This isn't a way to add many arbitrary new tender types — every merchant gets exactly one custom tender. Renaming it doesn't create a second one.
It replaces the old "External Payment" tender. The underlying tender already existed under a fixed name; what's new is that its display name is now something you can edit yourself. Payments taken on it before the change keep their history.
It needs a current terminal. The custom tender requires terminal version 2.7.0 or newer — the row in Terminal tender settings says so. A register on an older version won't show the button at all. To check a register's version, tap the gear icon on that register and open Support info (see Accessing Device Settings and Support).
Where to Access Each Feature

Naming Your Custom Tender
Step 1
Go to Settings → Devices → Tender configuration.
Step 2
Find the "Custom tender" row under Back office tender settings.
Step 3
Click Edit name and type the name you want. It can be up to 35 characters — short enough to fit a button at the register — and it can't match the name of another tender.
Step 4
Click Save changes.
Using It at the Register
Step 5
At checkout, look for your custom tender under the name you gave it. The register gives its own button to the first seven enabled tenders, in the order they're ranked under Terminal tender settings; anything ranked below that opens under "Other Payment" instead. Configuring Tender Types covers how that ranking works.
Step 6
Complete the sale the same as with any other tender.
What It Looks Like
The tender appears under whatever name you gave it — as its own button if it's ranked in the first seven, otherwise in the "Other Payment" list. Nothing marks it as different from a built-in partner tender.
Cash-drawer and till reports show sales under that custom label, the same as any other tender. The name you choose also prints on receipts and shows in the cash-drawer tender breakdown.
Renaming applies to past transactions too, so reports for earlier dates show the new name rather than the old one. Only the name changes — amounts, totals, and tender breakdowns stay exactly as they were.
Troubleshooting
Don't see an "Edit name" button on the Custom tender row. The name is shared across all your stores, so it can only be changed from the default view. Set the store selector at the top of the tab to "Default settings (all stores)" and the button appears. Switching the selector reloads the page, so save first if a row shows an "Unsaved changes" tag.
Got an error when saving the name. The name can't be blank, can't be longer than 35 characters, and can't be one another tender already uses — the message on screen says which applies. Any other tender changes you made in the same save are kept, so you only need to fix the name.
Renamed the tender, but registers still show the old name. Registers pick up the new name on their own — usually within a minute, and longer if you have several stores. Give it a few minutes and check again.
A register doesn't show the custom tender at all. Check that register's version at the gear icon → Support info; it needs to read 2.7.0 or newer.
Looking for a second custom tender. There's only one slot per merchant right now — renaming it doesn't add another.
