How Discount Stacking Works
Automatic promotions can be configured to stack with sales. Item discounts, case discounts, BOGO, mix-and-match, and cart size promotions all have a "Stacks with sales" option you can turn on.
Manual discounts (clerk-applied) do not stack with sales. These follow "highest wins" rules instead — when a manual discount and a sale would both otherwise apply, whichever one is bigger is what the customer gets, not both together.
Custom discounts do not stack with sales. Same "highest wins" rule: the bigger of the two applies, not both.
Customer discounts do not stack with sales. Same "highest wins" rule again — the bigger discount applies, not both.
Mix-and-Match and Bundle Interactions
Mix-and-match (case deals): when a stacking promotion and a mix-and-match both qualify on the same items, the system compares the total value of each and keeps whichever arrangement gives the customer the best deal — not automatically the mix-and-match price.
Bundle promotions ("4 for $10" style): bundled units get the bundle price only — a bundle's own price never stacks with a sale, and there's no setting to change that. Units left over once the bundle quantity is filled aren't part of the bundle anymore, though, so if a separate stacking promotion is configured for those items, it can still apply on top of their sale price.

Turning On Stacking for a Promotion
Step 1
Open the promotion you want to allow to stack — an item discount, case discount, BOGO, mix-and-match, or cart size promotion.
Step 2
Turn on "Stacks with sales" if you see it.
Note: this option only appears on accounts with the feature turned on, and it never appears on Bundle promotions — bundles can't be configured to stack with a sale.
Step 3
Save.
Troubleshooting
You don't see a "Stacks with sales" option on a promotion: either your account doesn't have this feature turned on, or you're looking at a Bundle promotion, which never has this option.
A manual, custom, or customer discount and a sale both applied, but the customer only got one: that's expected — those never stack with a sale. Whichever discount was bigger is what was used.
A mix-and-match deal didn't apply even though the items qualified: check whether a separate stacking promotion on those same items would have given a better price — if so, that's what applied instead.
Leftover units after filling a bundle didn't get the bundle price: that's expected — only the exact bundle quantity gets the bundle price. Extra units are priced normally and can still pick up a separate stacking promotion if one applies to them.
